The Inn at Thorn Hill & Spa is located at the foot of the White Mountain National Forest, with access to over 500 miles of hiking, biking, skiing and multi-use trails. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, or just someone who enjoys a stroll by the river, Jackson and the surrounding areas should prove worthy tromping grounds for any level of adventure.

White Mountain Ski Company offers several types of rentals, including mountain and eBikes.

Hiking

Headquarters of the Appalachian Mountain Club
The northeast’s premier hiking, information and educational center is located 10 miles north of the inn in Pinkham Notch.

Canoeing and Kayaking

Saco Bound Canoe and Kayak Rentals
Saco Bound Canoe and Kayak Rentals to take you down the Saco River, right through the heart of the Mount Washington Valley. Group tours and private rentals are available.

Fly Fishing

North Country Angler
Get your license and your gear, and a lesson at North Country Angler, down the road a piece in North Conway, for your White Mountain fly fishing adventure. An outfitter with class, style and a care for the environment, don’t go out without talking to these guys.

Several ski areas are located within 5 to 20 miles of the front door.

Nordic Centers, for those who want to really work the cardio:

  • Jackson Ski Touring Foundation Trails
    These trails run right past our front door, and they are excellent, world-class Nordic trails waiting for your adventure.
  • Mount Washington Valley Ski Touring
    For a smaller touring center, is also excellent for beginner terrain that has lots of good flats.
  • Bear Notch Ski Touring
    A family-run Nordic center of distinction, they have great trails by the river, a family oriented environment, and you can bring the dog!
  • Great Glen Trails
    A favorite! The Great Glen Trails Outdoor center offers something for everyone. Check with the front desk for more!

Sleigh Rides and Ice Skating

Nestlenook Farm
Nestlenook Farms, located down the road from us a few minutes. Where you can book your private or group sleigh ride or enjoy an evening of ice skating!

Farm by the River
Farm by the River offers majestic sleigh rides in the scenic White Mountains and are located only a 15 minute drive from the Inn. They offer both private sleigh rides for a more romantic experience or group rides as well.

We have plenty of great inside things to do in any season, and even when the weather gets bad.

Remick Country Doctors Museum and Working Farm
Great for insight toward early days in New Hampshire farming styles and techniques.

Stone Mountain Arts Center
Our newest concert venue, getting acts like Bela Fleck, Dar Williams and Peter Mulvey to name a few. Located in Brownfield, ME, about a 20 minute ride from us.

Mount Washington Valley Theater Company
Drama and musicals are offered seasonally, with a summer line up of classic shows that anyone would enjoy.

New England Ski Museum
The Eastern Slope branch of the New England Ski Museum includes an exhibit hall, a museum store and the Wilkinson-Greenberg Library.

Jackson Historical Society Art Gallery
Located in the Old Town Hall, this gallery features art from the 19th century and Eric Koeppel’s 78″ x 135″ painting of Mt. Adams.
